Hello! We’re the Cathemers and our small family comprises of my husband Clayton, myself, and our miniature dachshund Rascal. Clayton and I have been married for almost four years and currently live in a small farming town called Valley Farms in Arizona. Our story started in 2012 after I mustered up the courage to add Clayton as my friend on Facebook. Once we started talking and after a few dates we quickly became very close and had an instant connection. Just shy of a year of us being together we decided we couldn’t live without each other and set a date to get married. So our grand adventure started! We purchased our very first home and began our life together.
Clayton has lived in our small town his entire life and is the 9th generation born and raised here. We love our tiny town but we love adventure and the world around us even more. Two years later as we got ready for bed one night Clayton asked me “How would you feel about traveling the United States?”. At first I was caught off guard by how out of left field this a statement this was, but answered that I would love to. Over the coming weeks we casually talked about our idea and how we could “swing it” as Clayton would like to say. A list was made, we set goals, planned a potential leave date and the process began.
As with everything in life we did come to a few road blocks and have a few second thoughts but we prevailed on. We had a plan and we were sticking to it. Our first item on the agenda was to tell our families. Our families supported us whole heartily with a dose of critique as well. We then needed to find our “home on wheels”. This was a process! If there is one thing to know about Clayton it is that he is meticulous when it comes to making any big financial decision. I always have comfort in knowing that when Clayton and I make decisions it is always based off of facts, knowledge and lots of research! After a long search, and weighing pros and cons, we finally found what we will call home!
The house we bought and had lived in for the last 3 years was on the market and sold within a week! So we boxed up our possessions and moved in with family until we begin our journey April 3rd 2017. We can’t wait for you to go on all our adventures with us!
So buckle up and enjoy the ride!
